Uses:

Omeprazole belongs to a class of drugs known as proton pump inhibitors. It is used to treat symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease and other conditions caused by excess stomach acid. It works by decreasing the amount of acid your stomach makes and relieves symptoms such as heartburn, difficulty swallowing, and persistent cough. Omeprazole may helps heal acid damage to the stomach and esophagus, helps prevent ulcers, and may help prevent cancer of the esophagus. Omeprazole can be used together with antibiotics to treat gastric ulcer caused by infection with helicobacter pylori (H. pylori).
